That was the time when Dave began totally changing. That was the time when he was changing his exterior and glitter suits remaining utmost stripped inside. That was the time when he was not only Depeche Mode but Mode and Depeche. (Anton Corbijn genially underlined these Dave's fashionable style and expressive performances in photo sessions.) Exactly in this time (1993) Dave wrote his own song about changes – “Closer”(released as a b-side of “I Need You” 2003)
P.S. First “Closer” was entitled “The Ocean Song”.
